Nickel is another important metal in coating technology. It is often used to prevent diffusion between two metals by forming an effective barrier. However, unlike other metals, nickel is not used as an optical coating as it does not have the desired reflective properties. Instead, its main function is to protect and separate materials, which is particularly important in the electronics and automotive industries.
